2020 has been an historic, but difficult year. The world has been swept by a pandemic that was not taken seriously initially, but has been raging for more than a year, causing deaths, illness, economic chaos and despair. People in all countries have been affected and life has changed dramatically. Sheila Ferraz and Pérola do Amaral have come together here to tell the story of a girl of a thousand pearls: a girl like any other, who is going through tough times of despair. Using a unique and poetic narrative, illustrated by drawings, the authors tell how she recovered from her depression from the moment she was able to tune into the deep voices full of the energy of her talent and creativity. Converting a thousand tears into a thousand pearls, the tale speaks of overcoming the sad times, remembering that for people just as for oysters, tears can become pearls.

Sheila is an M.D. and has a PHD in public health and Pérola is a visual artist and advertising specialist. With the advent of the pandemic, they have also turned their hands to literature as a way of making life a little better for others.
